The National Youth Day celebration is coming on the heels of the recent happenings in our country, where the youths are asking for institutional and endearing changes that will make our country a better place. Our current situation calls for wisdom and dialogue so that we can move forward as a people united with one purpose and one destiny. 

President Muhammadu Buhari on 2nd September, 2020 approved November 1st every year as the National Youth Day. The president in approving the National Youth Day has reiterated the fact that he has listened to the demands of the youths and he is working on the realization of such demands which is why the President demonstrated his commitment to the Youths by approving the establishment of a N75 billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) - The NYIF is to serve as a Youth Bank that will fund and support the innovative ideas, skills, talents and entrepreneurship  of the Nigerian Youth. 

On the strength of this magnanimous gesture, we want to use this auspicious moment in the lives of the Nigerian Youths to thank President Muhammadu Buhari and the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare for supporting the Nigerian youths to have their own platform where issues affecting them can be dissected dispassionately.

We also want to specially thank and celebrate our very own Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for his political savvy and for always providing leadership and direction for the Nigerian youths. 

We also celebrate him heartily for agreeing to host the maiden  conference of the National Youth Day celebration at the Glass House of the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja from November 9th to November 10th, 2020. 

We as Nigerian youths have therefore agreed to confer on His Excellency the befitting title of the Grand Commander of the Nigerian Youths. The theme of this maiden edition of the National Youth Conference is “Youthfulness , Leadership and Good Governance”. The Conference will provide the opportunity for the different speakers to discuss the place of the youths in the scheme of things in our dear country in partnership with Governments at all levels.

We enjoin all Kogi State Youths to celebrate this day as a symbol of our commitment, steadfastness, unity, resilience, innovation and as a backbone for the nation. This is an opportunity to strengthen the participation of young people in the Governance processes of our dear country by investing in young people to be involved as active agenda setters in the decision making processes that affects our future.

_There is no doubt that the popular saying that says "One good term deserves another"_

In what looks like a milestones achievement of an administrator who has extra-ordinarily done well in discharging his duty while he was in office as an administrator of *Yagba East L.G.A*

There is no gain saying that the man *Hon. Abdulrasaq Ijagbemi Ashiru* has not done well as an administrator, his attention towards the improvements and reviving of some social amenities for the good people of Yagba East it's nothing but a true community issues base development that has help in boosting the economy hub of the local government area.

*Hon. Abdulrasaq Ijagbemi Ashiru* understand that governance is continuous process that can help to snowball the govern jurisdiction to rapid development.

The completion and commissioned of *Yagba East Multipurpose Hall (GYB Civic Centre)* is an evidence that he is a complete administrator of continuity, the building of the hall was kick-started by the administration of *Hon. Kayode Obaro* during his time as the Executive Chairman of the local government but it was abandoned by subsequent administrations after his tenure but at the advent of Hon. Ashiru as the administrator, the building was completed and commissioned.

A good administrator is always after the development of his locality, the grading and rehabilitation of *Irunda-Ile Feeder Road and Ohun-Ife-Olukotun Road* it's also another milestones achievement achieved under the administration of *Hon. Abdulrasaq* , the roads were dualized for the smooth runnings of commercial activities of the people and to help farmers have access to their various farms.

The major priority of any administration is the security of lives and properties, Abdulrasaq was able to Refurbished the Vigilante's Patrol Van and also placed them on meaningful salary scales which stand as an encouragement for the vigilante's to be more committed and vigilant in carrying out their duties.

With the aims of given necessary social amenities to the society and given them a well meaningful lifestyle of living *Hon. Ijagbemi* gave total attention to potable drinking water, he *Completely Overhaul of Major Faulty Hand-Pump Borehole* across Yagba East LGA, he also constructed new ones in additions to the ones he met.

He loves for youths and education has always made him to take youth empowerments and Education his major priority because he believes education is the bedrock of any nation.

We can not but mentioned few out of his achievements, we can keep counting his achievements in regards to locations and time of dualization.

It is time to reward his good deeds by given him our supports and canvass for him as the next Chairman of Yagba East L.G.A.

A man in his calibre that always gives attentions to the needs of others is uncommon in our society.

His wealth of knowledge is incomparable, he is very meek in nature and readiness to help solve the problems of his subjects, his community and the entire state according to the available ability and resources.

As a loyalist, fan of Gov. Raji Fashola, I have personally sent a message to our works minister, on the current situation of Yagba Road, which am very hopeful of his quick intervention.

While awaiting the Minister positive action on the situation, i wish to personally challenge our Okun Local Government SSA Securities, Kogi West Senator, House of Representative Members (APC, PDP and ADC), Head of Service of the Federation, House of Assembly Members, Special Advisers, Commissioners, Party Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, O.D.A, Party State Officials, NURTW/ROADS branch Chairmen to all come together through a possible stakeholders meeting.

Come together and come up with a joint letter of request/recommendation, present it to the State Government for help. ASAP

We can dialogue for a way forward just to safe our people.

Our people first, we must not wait until they start attacking us.
I was almost attacked weeks back, until they forced me to remove the party cap I put on.

We can't disguised forever, they knows us, they are familiar with our names and villages address, the party and where we belong to etc...

I am also part of this government in all ramification, the public shame and embarrassment is unbearable.

Rescuing our people should be one of our top priority at the moment.

Please for God's sake let's come together and rescue our people from the present road situation.

UPDATE ON STATE OF WORK AT THE CENTRAL REFERENCE HOSPITAL OKENE.

We are pleased to inform the general public that the Project was budgeted for, approved by the State Excutive Council, advertised, budgeted cost funded and work has been awarded to appropriate contractors. 

We implore the good people of Kogi State, especially those affected by the hardship involved in the relocation of the Zonal Hospital Okene to a temporary site to please bare with us as this is a little pain for a greater gain. We are working round the clock to ensure speedy completion of work so that HealthCare can be returned in ernest to a new and improved structure/services in terms of manpower,  equipment and Civil facilities. We seek your prayers, cooperation and assistance where necessary.

His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello, has promised total revamping of these facilities. Work in Okene and Lokoja has started. We will soon be giving update on the specialist Hospital Lokoja. Then we will move on to Anyigba, Iddah Ajaokuta and Isanlu. These Health Facilities are categorised in Phase 1 of the Programmatic Upgrade. 

The date of the ground breaking ceremony will be announced soonest where His Excellency will lay a symbolic foundation block at the site.

Hon. Nasir Isah Ohiani congratulates Sen. Smart Adeyemi

The Special Adviser to the Kogi state Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Convener of Kogi New Direction Ambassadors, Hon. Nasir Ohiani has felicitated with Sen. Smart Adeyemi for his tribunal triumph against Sen. Dino Melaye.

In a press release, Hon. Nasir salutes the judgement that affirmed him winner of the November 2019 Kogi West Senatorial rerun and implored the people of his Senatorial District to work with him to bring in more dividend of democracy to them.

He however urged him to use this victory as a driving force to duly work and represent his people honourably in the upper chamber for a progressive course.

 

He also congratulated Gov. Yahaya Bello and the All Progressive Congress family for standing by him during the trials till his victory. He said this is an assurance that the party's unity will make Kogi state become an emblem of democracy in Nigeria.

The Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic planning,who doubles as the Forum chairman of all  commissioners, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, has congratulated the senator representing Kogi west in the red chamber on his deserving victory  at the kogi state national assembly election petition tribunal against the litigant,Dino Melaiye of the PDP.

MAAI expressed joy and happiness at the breaking of the deserving victory, saying the petitioners case was unecessary owing to the fact that it lacks substance and merit.

Asiwaju said with great optimism that the victory at the tribunal is assured, premised on the fact that the petitioners case from foundation is based on hearsay and on unsubstantiated points in which the respected jurist further amplified in their judgement.

He enjoined Senator Smart Adeyemi, CON to see this victory firstly, as an act of God Almighty, an evidence that free and credible electioneering process brought him to the seat, also a further improvement on our democratic practice and jurispudence, most importantly, an opportunity to be more dedicated and selfless in the service of his senatorial constituents who willingly voted him. As said by the court, the election held on the 16th and 30th of November 2019 was an undeniable victory for APC and her candidate DSSA.

Mukadam joined other party stakeholders, Stalwarts, faithfuls, and all APC members in kogi west senatorial district to congratulate the leader of the progressives in kogi state, His Excellency,Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello on the victory of DSSA at the tribunal, saying his quality leadership style has been a source of inspiration, courage and Victory to all progressives in the west senatorial district and the state at large.

In Nigeria today, Government's performance is very key. Citizens now hold their leaders accountable. It is not easy to see  few conscientious persons who come into politics solely because they are driven by desire to serve passionately. Kogi state,  a place where government and the governed are in communion on what the people need and how government is able to make aspiration come to pass is examplary. Governor Bello is imbued with leadership prowess, derives from adoption of technical-rationality. This is guided by his knowledge, competence, deep respect for professionalism and integrity as fundamental elements of good governance. 

Gov. Bello has re-echoed  his Administration's resolves in improving the welfare of citizens of the state. Hence, the decision to focus on four critical key sectors: Security, Health, Education and Infrastructural. The Governor has renew synergy to double efforts on anti-corruption battle. This is important ensuring  gains of collaboration do not continue to face danger of annihilation. Bello reaffirms his unflinching commitment to work towards building a socially-cohesive society in which the resources of our state work for the benefits of all. He will continue to apply public funds in such a way no section of the state or segment of the population suffers social exclusion. These are part of the new Direction Government's blue prints. 

On assumption of office in his first tenure, he cleared the backlog of  four months inherited salary arrears from the Captain Idris Wada's led government.  Unlike several of his counterparts strewn across the landscape of Nigeria, he continued to pay worker’s emoluments as at when due. To Bello, it is morally unjustifiable, indeed reprehensible for any state Governor to collect federal allocations and sundry bailout funds and yet refuse to pay the long-suffering workers their constitutional entitlements. Gov. Bello's love for civil servants stems from the fact he was once a through-bred civil servant before becoming a politician achored on his avowed committment to govern with a human face.

He is committed to the implementation of minimum wage, hence the civil service reforms to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in civil service via elimination of redundancy and weeding off ghost workers on Government payroll system in 2016. By all parameters, it is equally clear to any discerning mind the government is committed to building institutional and systemic capacity that produce human capital linked to efficient service delivery and the principles of good governance. This is one of the main reasons Kogi State Strategy plan was put in place and charged with the responsibility of developing a framework and blueprint using innovative techniques and technologies to upgrade human capacity and organizations.

So far, it has been an action-packed ride carrying the people along. The blueprint focuses on job creation, improve IGR, urban renewal and infrastructural development across the nooks and crannies of the confluence state. For instance once dilapidated, pothole riddled roads such as lokoja to Okene, Anyigba, Idah, Olamaboro, dekina, Ijumu, Yagba West and East, lokoja metropolis are all wearing a more solidified and durable look to the envisioned fast-paced economic development. As a progressives, Governor Bello remain resolutes in his vision of providing accountable, responsible and responsive leadership to the citizens. Assures that this administration creates a conducive business environment to attract investments, industries, support the growth of the local economy, and empower the workforce using local talent to drive job and wealth creation.

The government of Kogi state is aware of the torrents of expectations from the people despite the confronting financial challenges. The government has so far proved it's  onus justify why it was choosen by the people of Kogi state to govern them. The Gyb government is devising ingenious ways of meeting the expectations of the public and this underscores the relevance and trust they justified in the New , Direction  Government. The government will continue to synergise to explore what we can do together, what we can share with each other and areas we can collaborate with one another particularly from other states that have partnered with us all the way. The government understands there is still more work to be done considering the level of decay inherited from The PDP led government.

The New Direction Government would do everything within its powers to sustain the current economic recovery efforts, caused by this COVID19 pandemic. Macro-economic policies would be reinforced to achieve sustainable economic stability and growth. The state economy had been placed on the path of growth and competitiveness in the last four years especially in the areas of human capital development, infrastructural development and prosperity. Government is more determined than ever before to subdue the challenges of insecurity as proven by its leep successes . The new direction is confident together as a united Kogi we would achieve our objective of building a prosperous Kogi state.

The scorecard for the last four years has been replete with outstanding achievements, ground breaking events and the initiation of legacy projects which have not only transformed the landscape of the state impressively but also ensure comprehensive sustenance of well-being of the people in line with the development blueprint released for the second term in office. This reiterates the commitment and determination of the administration to work and serve Kogites. Apart from security and roads, significant progress is also made in the delivery of Health Care and Education, Infrastructure and Services to the people.

He is leading the way in determination to deliver change and take Kogi state in "LETS DO MORE" for consolidation. The fact that the government is paying special attention to key areas of internal security and humanitarian services, health and education put the state on the right track. These areas reflect some of the most challenging issues we are contending with. The government cannot talk about strengthening public service delivery without discussing the issues of accountability and prudent deployment of resources which has been top priorities for  this adminstration. His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello with his penchant for good governance and accountability is commended by the people of Kogi state for doing well in good governance, shunning all forms of parochial interests, improves peace and prompt payment of salaries and pension to the active and retired civil servant.

Gov Bello Supports Isanlu Robbery Victims with 10M

His Excellency,  the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has released the sum of 10million naira to support the burial rites of the slain victims of the unfortunate Isanlu robbery attack which claimed about  ten (10) lives. 

The monetary support was delivered on behalf of the Governor by The Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Chief Edward Onoja on Sunday at his residence. 

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, Ayuba Ede was present to receive the support on behalf of the Police families. Also present  was the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Government,  Hon. Sunday Faleke, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development,  Hon. Mukadem Asiru Asiwaju and the State Security Adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara. 

Relaying the message on behalf of the Governor, the Deputy Governor also revealed that plans had been concluded to bring the Isanlu Police Station to standard, this according to him would rebuild the confidence of the Police for proper policing of the community.

I, Dr Bamidele Isaac Oludoyi commensurate with all indigens of Isanlu in Yagba East Local Government area of Kogi State and the entire country at large over the armed robbery attack on the banks and the police station on Thursday 4th of June, 2020. 

Situation like this is uncalled for in a town where almost everyone is striving for survival, as majority of the residents in this town are peasant farmers. This is to tell us the kind of country Nigeria is. A country without security of lives and properties. For how long do we need to continue in this menace? Bad government all over , from the President to the least of all political office holder..... Corruption and bad governance everywhere in Nigeria. Enough is enough.

People are been murdered by armed robbers in broad day light , even police station was not left out in the armed robbery killing of Thursday  4th of June.

This is an emergency call on the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, to step up security of lives and properties in Okun land and the country in general. Enough of all these killing here and there.

The controversial Covid 19 index cases in Kogi;  Yagba Federal constituency is Free of Corona virus.

On the heels of the controversial cases of Corona virus victim recorded in kogi state,particularly rumoured to be in Okun land by NCDC,it's imperative to set the record straight as regard Yagba federal constituency. 

Even though, the process and Guildlines of NCDC in announcing a victim of the virus is flagrantly violated, which is still a subject of questioning and rejection by the Kogi state government,it's in the right strides to let the world know that the victim ,if at all true, should be recorded for FCT and not Kogi state. 

As the Senior Special Assitant to Kogi state Governor on political matters ,Yagba federal constituency, after necessary precautionary measures has been observed and deep grass root sensitization that was undertaken, I can say with all optimism that Yagba federal constituency is FREE of Covid 19.

Much more, we are FREE of the pandemic because our people are law abiding with high obeisance for NCDC and State governments protocols of Social distancing, washing of hands, using of nose mask and improvement on personal hygiene. Yagba federal constituency and her inhabitants , till now, has not reneged in the practice of these guildines to make sure they are safe and sound.

Therefore, I can say with the concerted effort of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello through the ministry of Health and the Covid 19 squadron committee Corona virus does not have a place in the state.

It is no longer news that some unscrupulous individuals are hell bent on tarnishing the good image of the ever youthful and useful Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku who is the Chief of Staff to the pragmatic Governor of Kogi State - His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello. 

Pharm. Asuku has been known to be an upright and detribalized man, right from when he served as the DG Protocol to the time he was elevated to the position of the Chief of Staff.

Anyone who has ever had an interaction with the CoS would know that Asuku do not support tribalism cum religious bigotry as described by those who want to truncate the peace we enjoy in Kogi State through the efforts of the GYB administration.

These unpopular agents of confusion, striving so hard to sow a seed of discord among the people of Kogi State are yet to understand that they have failed even before their plans could be hatched.

Pharm. Jamiu Asuku is a humble and devoted Muslim yet he embraces Christians, as he does Muslims alike.

The liberal Jamiu is an advocate of the unifying EBIGO - Ebira /Igala/Okun Agenda.

We know Asuku and we are convinced he is far from whom he was being painted to be.

Kogi State is one! And we shall continue to remain indivisible no matter our religious or political dichotomy.

His Excellency - Alh. Yahaya Bello made the best choice in given us Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku as his Chief of Staff.

We shall continue to reject anyone or anything that might want to disrupt the peaceful co-existence of all people of religious beliefs in our dear Kogi State.

Nigerian Government has confirmed that beneficiaries of the Social Investment Programme, N-Power, will receive their April stipend next week.

The beneficiaries have been lamenting the continuous delay in the payment of their stipends for some months now.

They are now clamoring for their April payment since the announcement of the lockdown in some states owing to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, gave the assurance on Friday, adding that the payment process was at the final stage.

The minister who spoke on the daily briefing by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, said, “It is in the final stage of payment and by early next week, they will get their payment, Insha Allah.”

Beneficiaries of the social investment programme (N-Power) had last month complained about the delay in payment of their stipends since the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, under the leadership of Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, took over the scheme.
