*NEW YEAR SPEECH BY HON ABDULRASAQ ASIRU IJAGBEMI, THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, YAGBA EAST LGA*

My good people of Yagba East LGA.
First, I'll like to use this medium to thank and praise God Almighty who in His infinite mercies saw us through the year 2021 and has given us the opportunity to witness the beginning of a new year.

2. The year 2021 came with its challenges ranging from insecurity, global economy meltdown, resurgence of covid-19 pandemic e.t.c. But even in the face of all these, we're progressing as a people.

3. I have no iota of doubt that this new year 2022 is with vast opportunities, which we must be ready to harness as a government and as a people for the betterment of our society. Our budget for the year 2022 tagged; "Budget of Consolidation" is a reflection of our unrelenting efforts and determination to further deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Yagba East.

4. The primary purpose of government is to secure lives and properties of her citizens. I want to reaffirm my commitment to creating a peaceful atmosphere, which will invariably promote socio-economic and encourage foreign investors.

5. I appreciate the cooperation and the unalloyed support I've been enjoying from the my people since this administration came on board. I look forward to a more robust cooperation and support this new year. I equally commend the efforts and commitment of our security agents, especially the level of bravery they displayed during the recent bank robbery in our neighbouring Local Government, which led to the apprehension and arrest of suspected robbers.

Note that security is not a one man job. All hands must be on deck. We must all be security conscious. Citizens must complement the efforts of government by willing to assist in giving useful and timely information to security agents and report any suspicious persons in order to make our society safe!

Wishing you a prosperous new year.

God bless Yagba East LGA
God bless Kogi State
God bless Nigeria

Yagba East Council Boss, Hon. Asiru Abdulrasaq Ijagbemi, welcome the people of Yagba East to year 2022, appreciates their love and supports throughout year 2021.

KOGI NYCN:- TEAM OLASUNKANMI JETHRO, SEEK JUSTICE, EQUITY AND FAIRNESS ON HIS DISQUALIFICATION, SAYS ALL ELECTORAL COMMITTEE ARE COMPROMISED.

*KOGINYCNDECIDE: The Disqualification Of Comrade Olasunkanmi Jethro As Legal Adviser Aspirant To The Council Is Illegal*.

It has come to our notice that the screening committee for the upcoming Kogi State National Youth Council of Nigeria has illegally disqualified a competent and well coordinated comrade who served in the last dispensation as the general secretary of the NYCN, Yagba East Local Government Area and who is still serving as the incumbent general secretary of the same local chapter in this present administration, it will be out of place to disqualified such qualified aspirant who have served the council for over four years.

We want to bring to the notice of the general public that *Comr. Olasunkanmi Jethro* has submitted the required credential to the council electoral committee whereby the screening committee did not found any disparity in it, so how come they are using the term "legal qualification" to illegally disqualified him?

However, what qualifies an aspirant to run for an elective position at the state level according to the constitution of the council are as follow:

1. The person must have served at the local chapter level

2. Age: (The person must be at the constitutional youthful age range of the council), and Comr. Olasunkanmi Jethro possess the above requirements, so why the disqualification?

We are using this medium to demand for what is right to be done from the electoral and screening committee as we demand answers for the following questions.

1. On what ground is "Legal Qualification" was used as a tool to disqualified he Comr. Olasunkami Jethro without no congenial reasons?

2. Why his opposition aspirant Comr. Agbana who has not pass through the constitutional process "by serving at the local chapter before considering to aspire at the state level was qualified"?

3. Or is it an error from the electoral and screening committee that Comr. Olasunkanmi Jethro was wrongly disqualified?

4. We demand immediate explanatory statement to the word " Legal Qualification" as according to what is details in the council constitution?

We ask the electoral and screening committee to rise above injustice and favouritism and do the needful by doing the right thing in accordance to the constitution of the council or else we shall term the entire process as nothing but a total shamble and it will be a great shame to see the mouthpiece of the youths involving themselves in such uncultured act that can cause disunity within the youths.

Furthermore, we may seek legal action against the council, the electoral and screening committee, if our petition is not address to the level of satisfaction.

In conclusion we shall leave the electoral and screening committee with the words of Alexandra Smith which say's that "A man does not plant a tree for himself; he plants it for prosperity", remember, Our actions today will speaks for each and everyone of us.

Thank you as we await your swift response Sir/Ma.

GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO INAUGURATES HIGH-POWERED ECONOMIC ADVISORY COUNCIL, CHAIRED BY MR ALIYU NDA SALAMI, AMB OLUSIJI GODWIN, CHIEF KOLA JAMODU AND OTHERS.

KOGI GOVERNOR INAUGURATES HIGH-POWERED ECONOMIC ADVISORY COUNCIL - TVC News

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, Monday, inaugurated the state’s Economic Advisory Council to help drive the economy of the state.

The high-worth Council was inaugurated virtually.

While inaugurating the Council, the Governor challenged members to “guide the state into prosperity” , tapping into the abundant human and mineral resources available to her.

He said the members were carefully selected based on their pedigree and track record, saying their main responsibility is to work with the state to “open new doors of opportunities towards economic diversification”.
The Governor said the way out is for the nation to go back to the days of agricultural boom as well as devise a way of optimizing the abundant mineral resources in the country.

His words: “As you know, Agriculture was the pride of the nation before the discovery of oil, in the 60s, but the coming of it, utterly neutralized the gains in Agriculture and stalled the progress in other sectors, as well. The entity called Nigeria is so naturally blessed, with the potential to be one of the leading country in the world but the circumstances of oil and all the issues around it, has made this very difficult to realize.

“Ladies and gentlemen, there is no doubt that, crude oil, in Nigeria, is suffering declining relevance and may actually become extinct, with the passage of time or become totally irrelevant, due to improvements in renewable energy over environmental concerns.

“In 2016 and 2020 respectively, Nigeria was ushered into a recession over the collapse of the price of crude oil. This, for me, underlines the fragility of our economy and, indeed, a wake-up call, that we must begin to think beyond oil, if we are to be sustainable, as a nation and, by extension, if we are to survive, as a State.

“As you know, Kogi State is vastly blessed with human and natural resources, that are yet to be optimally harnessed for the good of our people. The available data indicates that, we have over 29 solid minerals in commercial quantity. In addition, we are blessed with the confluence of Rivers Niger and Benue, we are a gateway to the FCT, we are bordered by 10 States including FCT, we are blessed with considerable arable land, we are blessed with potentially world class tourist sites, we are blessed with leading cash crops such as cashew, cassava, rice etc, we are blessed with high profile industries such as Ajaokuta, Itakpe Iron Ore, Obanaja Cement Company, we can go on and on. We cannot and must not, therefore, be complacent, in the face of these enormous blessings and see our people, our State struggling with basic necessities of life”.

He informed the Council that the rational behind the establishment of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara was to create local capacity and strategically position the state to take advantage of the abundant mineral resources she boasts of.

The Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council, Mr Aliyu Nda Salami while responding on behalf of the other members, thanked the Governor for the intrinsic confidence reposed in them, saying they have resolved to hit the ground running and change the fortunes of the state for good.

He said the Governor has taken the right step by bringing together, a crack team to move the economy of the state forward.

The Council’s membership is testament to the intimidating profiles of Kogites in different spheres of endeavors.
Members of the Council are: Aliyu Inda Salami as Chairman, H.E Amb Olusiji Godwin Aina as Alternate Chairman, Chief Engr Joseph Makoju, OON, OFR (FNSE), Member; Chief Kola Jamodu , CFR (FCA), Member; Dr. Aheruvoh David Ohiku,Member; Emmanuel E. SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE OCCASION OF COMMEMORATION AND CELEBRATION OF DEMOCRACY DAY ON 12TH JUNE, 2021

Fellow Nigerians,

I join you all today to commemorate and celebrate our Democracy Day.  It is a celebration of freedom and a victory for one people, one country and one Nigeria.

2. As with all democracies we will always be going through improvement processes in our desire to reach the goal of a mature democracy, a strong, evolved and integrated nation state to be reckoned with globally.

3. In the last two years we have witnessed and overcome a good number of testy challenges that would have destroyed other nations especially relating to our collective security.

4. The indefatigable CAN DO Spirit of the Nigerian has sustained us and would keep pushing us to put these challenges behind us.

5.  Unfortunately some of these challenges came in the shape of violent outrages leading to the loss of lives of many of our dear compatriots and the destruction of some of our infrastructure, including those devoted to improving our democratic processes.

6. Once again, I want to render my sincere and heart-felt condolences to the families and friends of our gallant service men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty and as a sacrifice to keep Nigeria safe.

7. I extend the same condolence to the families and friends of our country men, women and children who were unfortunate victims of such senseless arsons, kidnappings and murders.

8. I also share the pains of families and direct victims of ransom-seeking, kidnaped victims who went through unimaginable trauma in the course of their forced imprisonment.

9. Let me assure my fellow citizens that every incident, however minor gives me great worry and concern and I immediately order security agencies to swiftly but safely rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice.

Fellow Nigerians,

10.  When you elected me as your President in 2015, you did so knowing that I will put an end to the growing insecurity, especially the insurgency in the North East, but the unintended consequences of our scattering them in the North East pushed them further in-country which is what we are now facing and dealing with.

11. We will, by the Grace of God put an end to these challenges too.

12. Unfortunately, like in most conflict situations, some Nigerian criminals are taking undue advantage of a difficult situation and profiteering therefrom with the misguided belief that adherence to the democratic norms handicaps this Administration from frontally and decisively tackling them.

13. We are already addressing these obstacles and we will soon bring some of these culprits to justice.

14. We are, at the same time addressing the twin underlying drivers of insecurity namely poverty and youth unemployment.

15.  Interventions led by Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria driving economic growth over the past 6 years are targeted mostly to the agricultural, services, infrastructure, power and health care sectors of the economy.

16. In the Agricultural sector, for instance, the Anchor Borrowers Programme resulted in sharp decline in the nation’s major food import bill from $2.23billion in 2014 to US$0.59billion by the end of 2018.

17. Rice import bill alone dropped from $1 billion to $18.5 million annually.

18. This initiative supported local production of rice, maize, cotton and cassava. Government financed 2.5 million small-holder farmers cultivating about 3.2 million hectares of farmland all over the country and created 10 million direct and indirect jobs.

19. Several other initiatives, namely AgriBusiness/Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme, the Non-oil Export stimulation Facility, the Targeted Credit Facilities operated across the 774 Local Governments.

20. In the manufacturing sector the CBN – BOI N200 billion facility financed the establishment and operations of 60 new industrial hubs across the country, creating an estimated 890,000 direct and indirect jobs.

21. The CBN’s N50 billion Textile Sector intervention Facility increased capacity utilization of ginneries from 30% to nearly 90%.

22. The Economic Sustainability Plan – our rebound plan for the COVID-19 pandemic developed in 2020 is currently being executed. The plan is primarily focused on the non-oil sector, which has recorded phenomenal growth contributing over 90% to the GDP growth in Q1 2021.

23. Though marginal we have recorded GDP growth over two quarters; Q2 2020 and Q1 2021.  This is evidence of a successful execution of the ESP by the Federal Government.

24. My vision of pulling 100 million poor Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years has been put into action and can be seen in the National Social Investment Programme, a first in Africa and one of the largest in the world where over 32.6m beneficiaries are taking part. We now have a National Social register of poor and vulnerable households, identified across 708 local government areas, 8,723 wards and 86,610 communities in the 36 States and the FCT.

25. Our conditional cash transfer program has benefited over 1.6 million poor and vulnerable households comprising more than 8 million individuals. This provides a monthly stipend of N10,000 per household.

26. I have also recently approved the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy Plan that augments existing plans to further reduce poverty in Nigeria.

27. As at the end of 2020, the Development Bank of Nigeria had disbursed 324 billion Naira in loans to more than 136,000 MSMEs, through 40 participating Financial Institutions. I am to note that 57% of these beneficiaries are women while 27% are the youth.

28. We are able to do all these and still accelerate our infrastructure development through sensible and transparent borrowing, improved capital inflow, improving and increasing revenue through capturing more tax bases and prudent management of investment proceeds in the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Fellow Nigerians,

29. Our infrastructure revolution continues with key projects attaining critical milestones under the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund; The Second Niger Bridge, The Lagos- Ibadan Expressway and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway.

30. I have also approved the establishment of Infraco Plc, a world-class infrastructure development vehicle wholly focused on Nigeria with a capital structure of N15 trillion.

31. The rail system is not left out as the Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail was completed and commissioned 33 years after construction began. The Lagos-Ibadan double track railway line which I have just commissioned has commenced operations.

32. We are focused on ensuring that our infrastructure drive is key to economic growth and one that can be felt by every Nigerian. Building critical infrastructure in our ports is also opening up opportunities for the Nigerian economy.

33. My approval for 4 new seaports using a Public-Private-Partnership approach is hinged on growing the Nigerian economy. These four sea ports; Lekki Deep Sea Port, Bonny Deep Sea Port, Ibom Deep Sea Port and Warri Deep Sea port will create massive job opportunities and foreign investment inflows.

34. We have worked at deepening our Eastern ports leading to success like having three container ships berth at Calabar port, a first in 11 years.  Similarly, on October 30 2019, an LPG tanker operated by NLNG berthed in Port Harcourt, the first time an LPG ship is berthing at any of the Eastern Ports.

35. As we invest in these new assets, we have also made strides in ensuring that they are secured and protected. In this regard I am also pleased to note the launch of the NIMASA Deep Blue project – which is an Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure that I recently commissioned. This initiative is designed to add to the layer of security we have to safeguard our maritime sector.

Dear Nigerians,

36. I will be the first to admit that in spite of our efforts and achievements which are there for all to see, there is still much more to be done and we are doing our best in the face of scarce resources and galloping population growth rate that consistently outstrips our capacity to provide jobs for our populace. Our over-all economic target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years is our goal notwithstanding COVID-19.

37. In the last two years we lifted 10.5 million people out of poverty – farmers, small-scale traders, artisans, market women and the like.

38. I am very convinced that this 100 million target can be met and this informed the development of a National poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy. The specific details of this accelerated strategy will be unveiled shortly.

39. In the last one year, Nigeria and the whole world faced COVID-19 for which no one was fully prepared.

40. Our response to the pandemic involved making hard choices in balancing livelihoods and public health concerns.  You are all living witnesses to how successful this has been due to a number of pro-active measures put in place.  Our response to COVID-19 is globally acclaimed.

41. We were able to ensure that the various lockdown measures did not impact too negatively on the ability of ordinary Nigerians to continue sustaining their livelihoods.

42. During the pandemic, we disbursed N5,000 to 1 million Nigerians using a Rapid Response Register and advanced N20,000 to 750,000 beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer Progamme and provided 1.37 million Nigerians with palliatives from CACOVID.

43. At the same time the Federal Government released 109,000 metric tonnes of food reserve stocks and 70,000 metric tonnes of grains to the poor and vulnerable in all 36 states of the federation.

44. In addition, Government reduced interest rates from 9% to 5% for struggling businesses and extended credit facilities to 548,345 beneficiaries.

Fellow Nigerians,

45. When this administration decided to change our Democracy Day from 29th May to June 12th in my first tenure, it was not only to honour the sacrifices of the men and women of our country who fought for the return to democracy but also to demonstrate our commitment to satisfy the aspirations of the people and creating an environment for democracy to be an accepted way of life.

46. As your President, I remain committed to providing an enabling environment for a free, fair and credible electoral system under my tenure.

47. However, you need to play your part by getting involved at any level you can supporting a democratic system that works for all and not for a section or a select few and demand accountability from your elected leaders.

48. My commitment to bequeathing a sustainable democratic culture remains resolute, my pursuit of a fair society remains unshaken and my desire to see that Nigeria remains a country for each and every one of us has never been stronger.

49. In responding to the challenges that this period imposes on us, Government also recognises the need to acknowledge notions of marginalisation and agitations for constitutional amendments among various segments of our population.

50. While this government is not averse to constitutional reform as part of our nation building process, everyone must understand that the primary responsibility for constitutional amendments lies with the National Assembly.

51. This body which, as I said, is the arm of government responsible for constitutional changes has concluded the preliminary stages of amending and improving our constitution in a way that the majority of Nigerians will be happy with.

52. Government is, however, willing to play a critical role in the constitutional amendment process without usurping the powers of the National Assembly in this regard.

53. As a nation we have come very far from where we started and we are getting incrementally closer to where we ought to be.

54. Overcoming the present challenges is but one of a necessary process that we have to undergo as a nation so that we can come out stronger.  The day I joined the Nigerian Army I was prepared to lay down my life for Nigeria.

55. As your President I remain ever committed to upholding and defending Nigeria’s Corporate existence.

56. In adhering to the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy notably section 14(2)(b) I shall do all within my power to ensure that the Security and welfare of the people remain the primary purpose of government.

57. I have, throughout my tenure, provided the security agencies with all they require  relative to available resources and will be providing more as the dynamics unfold to put an end to our security problems.

58. My strong belief in the Nigerian spirit gives me comfort that we are facing these challenges with renewed commitment to keep our country one.

59. I thank you for your patience and attention and more importantly your resolve to join hands in making Nigeria the country of our dream.

Happy Democracy Day! God Bless us All, God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji: Two Years Of Maximum Impact And Outstanding Representation.

*Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji: Two Years Of Maximum Impact And Outstanding Representation*

Indeed, Hon Adewale Temitope Adewale has become a household name in Ifako Ijaiye local government and a political brand in the political arena of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

On 6th June 2019, the stylish white-bearded Hon Adewale was sworn in as a member of the prestigious Lagos State House of Assembly representing the good people of Ifako Ijaiye constituency 01.

His emergence was met with mixed feelings as some doubted his capacity to deliver. Why? A youth and a first-timer. In contrast, several others believed in his ability, and he hasn't disappointed.

His one year in office was characterized by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gas Explosion in the Iju area of the local government, and the EndSars saga that resulted in an inter-ethnic crisis in the Fagba. Instead of overwhelming the amiable Hon Adewale, all these challenges served as motivation for him, and like an eagle, he rose above the rubbles. As a result, he made a considerable impact on the lives of his people and his constituents.

He was there all through the pandemic, giving different phases of palliatives to the vulnerable, the elderly, tradesmen/women, artisan, youths, party members, and security personnel.  A lot of people enjoyed the largess of his generosity.

Aside from the general food palliative, he did the first of its kind within the LG. He donated his April salary to the health and environment workers as well as the security personnel in the local government.

The gas explosion in the Iju suburb of the local govt was a disaster that wreaked havoc on the properties, lives, and the business environment. However, in his magnanimity, Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji rose to the occasion by providing succor to the victims. Aside from giving cash to all the victims, he also provided support for their hospital bills, especially those that suffered critical decree of burns.

Hon Adewale's gesture was further experienced during the ENDSARS saga that resulted in an inter-ethnic crisis in the Fagba area. He set up a committee to supervise the disbursement of 10million Naira relief funds to the businesses and families affected.

His giant strides in education cannot be overemphasized. His support program has given 850 UTME and 100 GCE forms to indigent students, while two outstanding ones were awarded scholarships. In addition, several admissions were facilitated into the various higher institutions in Lagos through his office.

In terms of employment, several constituents have been offered jobs in LASTMA, LASWA, LBSL, and LAGFERRY. Some others were given board appointments in RAVC and Park monitoring committee. This is outside the several constituents who were empowered through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

In terms of road infrastructure, he has facilitated several roads in the local government, such as the reconstruction of Moyo Agoro/ Inuobimi street, Jagunmolu street, Araromi, Ogundimu street, and rehabilitation of Iju road to Ajuwon. In addition, several other roads have gotten approval from the state government within the period under review through his influence. Roads such as Abiola/ Onijemo, Oshola street, Ibarra, Oyemekun, and Omoomo Street.

Hon Adewale has also facilitated the renovations of some schools, such as Fagba Junior grammar school and some primary schools within the Bishop Oluwole school complex.

On security, Hon Adewale, on 1st October 2020, celebrated the LNSC officers for their courageous and intelligent operations during the Endsars protest. As a result, millions of naira were given to all the 125 staff of the Ifako Ijaiye chapter of the corps.

These were in addition to the provision of cash for the renovation of their operation vehicle, provision of three (3) laptops to aid the smooth operation and reporting of the officers.

The Iju divisional police office (Red House) was not left out as it received a massive facelift and provision of office equipment, furniture, and electronics for the officers' use, especially the office of the DPO, DCO, and the officers changing room.

Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a first-timer in the House of Assembly, made an impeccable mark on his legislative work as the Chairman, Committee on Transportation.  His desire for a better transportation system in the state gave birth to the total reworking and drafting of the 2018 transport sector law, which was recently passed into law as the Lagos State transport sector reforms law 2021.

Like a North Star, he shines brightly among his colleagues by making his voice heard on the floor of the hallowed chamber, most especially on matters of urgent importance. Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji has been able to sponsor and co-sponsor several motions and attended several legislative retreats.

Hon Adewale is undoubtedly a game-changer, servant-leader, unusual philanthropist, vibrant, hardworking, and intelligent man who has brought new hope and new order in government and governance as it relates to the youth in politics.

The coming two years hold a lot for the people of Ifako Ijaiye. This uncommon legislator is committed to delivering dividends of democracy to the people without neglecting their welfare and provision of social amenities that would enhance good living. As a star, he is a landmark that helps those who follow him determine direction. Hon Adewale Temitope Adedeji glows brightly and leads people towards a purposeful destination.

Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, A Silent Achiever. By Anjorin Victor Daniel

Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, A Silent Achiever.

By Anjorin Victor Daniel

Hon. Asiwaju Asiru Idris is a successful banker and a great product of Ahamadu Bello University, Zaria and a complete gentleman.

Before you can be addressed as a leader, you must be a humanist and being a humanist you must be able to identify the problem of your followers and preferred solution to their problems. When it comes to that, Mukadam is second to none.

He has contributed and touch so many peoples life positively through scholarship to the downtrodden students, youth empowerment, women empowerment and less privilege, also in health sector he has performed excellently.

The people of Kogi west, Okunland, Yagba land in fact Kogi state at large can attest to the fact that his benevolence is beyond party, tribe and religion.

Mukadam as a silent leader and achiever will not ask any of his follower to do a task that himself haven’t done, he set the examples for his followers to follow, he never see himself higher than anyone around him, he do not micromanage or nag anyone.

He always demonstrate confidence in his followers by trusting them to complete the work that has been assigned to them.

He is also a symbol of humility, in time of making decision he will allow everyone to make their own contribution not minding their status or age.

Leadership has always been More challenging in Kogi state during difficult time but all thanks to God for giving us someone like Mukadam who has been there for youths, students, market women, farmers, young and aged one’s in, Yagba land, Okun land, kogi west and kogi state at large.

Lastly, I must say that Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris is a great asset to the new direction administration.
