Subsidy palliative measures; Kogi State Government organised a One-day training on BELLOCARE Application in collaboration with RENMISS TECH. LTD
In the committed quest of Kogi state Government to provide palliative measures towards ameliorating the hardship inflicted on the people due to the removal of subsidy on petrol by the Federal Government, a one day training was held on the Trado-Tech empowerment and payment system developed by the State Government.
The Trado-tech Empowerment and payment system named BELLOCARE is a smart initiative that leveraged on the power of ICT in providing solutions to the common problems of lopsided, uneven or influenced process of resources distribution, especially in Government chain. The system will not only provide a plartform for seamless distribution of resources, it will also ensure transparency and accountability of it.
The Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris,FCA chaired the event, while delivering his opening remarks, warmly welcomed participants from the 21 LGAS and some selected MDAS to the program.
Asiwaju said that the BELLOCARE empowerment and payment system is a deliberate step taken by the state Government on the heels of fuel subsidy removal, with the aim of providing financial palliative to the target audience, especially people at the grassroot without any third party interference. We utilised the endless gains in the IT world to achieve our aim of ensuring efficient, productive and equal opportunities in wealth creation and distribution to the target audience.
He made it known that the BELLOCARE empowerment and payment system will be used to send palliative fund directly to the beneficiaries without the involvement of any third party. We want to ensure that the funds gets to and expended by the people it's budgeted for.
According to the Honourable Commissioner, the state will be rolling out her palliative packages soon and one of the most important objective of the whole process, is to ensure the resources gets to the target community of people. That's why, the state explored the growing influence of technology by building BELLOCARE application to block loopholes, curb corruption tendencies and also integrate transparency and development in Governance.
Asiwaju commended the Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his people oriented programs, especially the soon to be unveiled palliative measures that will reduce the hardship occasioned by subsidy removal, saying his legacies will leave an indelible impact on the state and her citizenry. He also appealed to the participants to make the most of the workshop by acquiring new skills and putting such knowledge gained into productive utilisation for self reliance, value addition to the state and global impact.
The team lead of RENMISS TECH LTD, Mr Abdullahi Salihu, said the initiative aims to empower youths of the state with target beneficiaries ranging from 10, 000 to 20,000 individuals.
The objective of this workshop is to equip the trainers with adequate knowledge about the technology, with the mandate of training others simultaneously across all the 21 Local Government areas of the state. He explained that the approach aims to eliminate third-party interference, ensuring direct access to the grassroot.
Also addressing the participants, the SSA to the Governor on ICT, Hon. Ismaila Umar, expressed his deep belief that the initiative will have a significant impact on the lives of the people, particularly at the grassroot in a dire era of subsidy removal.
He emphasised that the projects main goal is to ensure the feasibility and transparency of distributing funds and empowerment directly to the people in the Local Governments, without the need to provide cash nor banking glitches. The approach will guarantee that the resources gets to the intended beneficiaries efficiently and effectively.
The program is set to cover all the 21 Local Governments areas and the 239 wards in the state, with the aim of providing equal opportunities and benefits to the people. One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of mobile phones to the representative from each LGA and selected MDAS of the state by the Honourable commissioner.
